The Power of Imagination
Last week I slipped on my workout gear and headed to my next challenge – jogging up 10 flights of stairs. Standing in the basement and looking upwards to the summit my heart sank in disbelief at the sheer task ahead.
‘One step at a time, is one step closer’ I said to myself.
One gentle lunge after another I made progress towards my goal, until the sixth floor thigh burn kicked in, my calves felt like rocks and my knees felt like they were about to buckle, yet again I couldn’t help thinking that this might be a challenge too far…I pushed on with the might of the 300.
Eighth floor, I take a quick peek through the seventh floor window at the traffic whizzing this way and that, for a brief moment I felt like I had an out of body experience and that I was indeed in my car driving to my destination, a car had pulled in front of me and was being very irate waving their arms in their rear view mirror… at me I assumed, I shrugged my shoulders and looked away then drove towards my car parking spot at which point I saw the irate driver on foot angrily chasing what looked like a young girl down the street, I got out of my car quick sharpish and gave chase after him, I was within a whisker of grabbing his collar then reality kicked in…my challenge was complete – Weird I know, but strangely I now stood on the 10th floor and my task completed.
The power of imagination…who knew?
