Daring to be Different

A Picture by Stopherjones

This picture shows the smooth workings of the mind when in sync with the world. Interlinking cogs powering interlinking cogs. Such power of self unison and harmony of movement. What happens when a cog decides to move against the others? The mind then becomes genius or troubled?

‘There’s a fine line between genius and insanity – I have erased this line’.Oscar Levant (1906 – 1972)

Oscar was right on the money when he made that statement, which transcends all activities at home, work or play. Ever looked at your current work practises and thought there must be a better way, ever put those thoughts into action and being told that it is utter hog wash. How about your innovative thoughts on training your front kick differently, only to be told that it would not work and that you would do better sticking with the usual way of training it.

Electrical impulses are said to link our thought processes and help us make decisions throughout our daily lives. The picture below is a powerful depiction of those ever so small flashes of imagination/thought that we take for granted. What happens when an impulse directly meets another impulse? Do we end up doing both impulses or is a new impulse created that we must follow?

It can be quite soul destroying having your ideas knocked for six, you may have genuinely put a lot of time and effort into finding a solution and now you are made to feel like you are going slightly mad for even suggesting the idea of change. You look in the mirror each day to check whether you are going mad, you start to doubt your decision making skills and so give in to the negative impulses in the brain that are forcing you to pander to others for their approval and sign off of your future actions.

Today is a new day, this is the day you find the secret of daring to be different;

Many people have been on the receiving end and witnessed first hand several positive innovations that were poo hooed as nonsense only to find one or more of these very same ideas being implimented days/weeks/months/years later.

What does this tell us?

Yes…Your idea was good, Yes…You are not going mad, Yes…It won’t happen again.

Today, when you have a positive  idea and want to exact change, know that you have a valid opinion, know that you are making a difference for the better, know that you will push to see your idea through to the end.

Push your motivation to achieve your innovation
