‘One More Thing’ – RIP Columbo
As an ardent fan of Peter Falk’s Columbo series where he would depict an unassuming, nutty professor type character to ensnare his supremely clever criminals whilst wearing a crumbled jacket, unravelling a boiled egg and smoking his customary cigar, Peter Falk really set the bar high for crime scene investigation dramas worldwide.
He developed the Columbo role to such an extent that his style of acting in this role can never be bettered, which is a true accolade to his mastery of on-screen delivery and understanding of human interactions.
Peter Falk was a true genius and very inspirational man, winning four Emmys for the title role in Columbo, a character he played on television for more than 30 years. Columbo became the role that set Peter’s place in popular culture and tended to surpass his powerful dramatic portrayals and skillful comic work in other films such as The Brinks Job, The book of Joe etc
Peter suffered from Alzheimer’s disease and advanced dementia for many years but he remained in good spirits until he passed away peacefully in his sleep June 23rd 2011. His passing to the new world sees yet another bright star twinkling in our sky at night. His physical presence will definitely be missed on this here earth, but his powerful legacy will remain in my heart forever.
‘Just one more thing’
Rest in Peace Columbo (Peter) and thanks for sharing your terrific journey.
