How do you know the truth is indeed the truth?

Knowing and shaping a truth has always been mans goal. Man’s rule of thumb; ‘Whether the truth is based on solid facts is neither here nor there, so long as it satisfies a need at that time’.
The earth was declared square many moons ago, seems that fits nicely on the not so true pile. There are so many ‘shaped truths’ it really is quite difficult to amass a knowledge of ‘true truths’.

Students become scholars and learned in their fields of shaped truths, they are happy because they have spent many years in their chosen subjects and know them inside out. Their shaped truth becomes the law of the land and so the layman is fed.

How do I know I am faced with something true or not? Well I know we live and die in this world, but the shaped truths tell me there is no life after dying(how do they know?), I know that leaders in any sphere are not gods, but mascots to be pinned down when things go wrong, the shaped truths state otherwise. I know that volcanoes cannot be controlled or labelled dormant by man to ease local inhabitants concerns.
In summary, I do not know if I am faced with a truth or non truth. I can only go with my logic of knowing shaped truths that have no foundation.
