The Hills are Alive

Do you know I often think why it is that hills and mountains are the doom of so many a would be trekker. Even experienced mountaineers have come to their end sharing their love of the mountains, but what is it that makes natures aesthetic creations so  dangerous to so many humans.

I have come to the conclusion that film star Julie Andrews was definitely on the money when she sang the hills are alive with the sound of music.

‘Why is that?’, I hear you say

Well when you learn a new dance step with a partner, at first it is awkward as you try to work with their rythmn of movement, so for a period of time you would be out of time and stepping on each others toes or kicking shins by accident. If you are fortunate enough to understand the give and take of partnership dancing and have gained the physical rythmnic skills then you would now be consolidating those movements so that you and your partner are dancing as one. This of course could take years of hard work and dedication and you may then go on to compete in competitions to see how good you are compared to others locally, nationally, internationally etc , who knows you may then reach the final of one of these competitions and then the unspeakable happens, you are suddenly for the first time since you started dancing with your partner all those months, years back, you are suddenly out of sync, not as one and fail to perform to your optimum ability. The cause of this could be down to a number of factors, but in the end, it happened, you can dust yourself off and try again next month/year etc.

In relation to the hills and Why I scramble mountains?, if you wish to dance with natures beauty and are out of sync/not as one, there are no second chances, so it is best to be prepared and then prepared some more, because the Hills truly are Alive and I respect every blade of grass, rock and boulder that make up their being.
